All About Me

I enjoy sharing music with others.

I love being married to my incredible wife, I love being a daddy to 6 awesome kids, and I love playing drums!

I work at Christian Karate Academy where I get to serve families while teaching Tang Soo Do. I also own a pallet company called Green Country Shipping Solutions and get to serve other companies by providing shipping supplies.

I’ve been playing percussion since 1987 and have loved every minute of it. I have  been blessed to play in 40 states around the U.S and in 8 different countries around the world. I have been on two 12 month tours with Christian music ministry teams. I have played on 11 CDs with several of the songs being featured on the radio in Chicago and Tulsa.

I have been offering comprehensive and affordable private lessons since 1998. Playing percussion is a passion for me, and it brings me joy to be able to share this passion with my students. From day one, students learn important foundational techniques to help them boost their skills and self-esteem. Each person has a unique learning style, and I enjoy finding out what that is and adapting my lessons accordingly. Contact me today to learn how I can help you achieve your musical goals.

I design my lessons according to my students’ needs, with an emphasis on confidence-boosting activities. Get in touch with me today to schedule a lesson and begin your journey.

What instruments will I learn to play?

Customized Lessons to Fit Your Needs

The world is full of different percussion instruments.  What you learn is up to you.  Many students are wanting to improve their skills for a band class at school, so we focus on snare drum, or other concert band percussion instruments.  Some students want to improve their skills for the marching band drum-line.  A majority of my students also want to learn to play the drum set.  I am happy to teach whatever you want to learn.  I personally love hand drums and other percussion instruments and would be more than happy to add them into your lessons as well.

How old do I have to be?

5 years old - 100 years old

Any time you are willing to start is a good time to start! Age is not usually the most important factor when deciding whether you are ready or not. Some better considerations are: your desire to play, your attention span, and your physical abilities.

(I suggest a 1 month trial for students 5-10 years of age. Then parents and I can decide on the best path forward for the student.)

Individual Lessons

Your Choices Are. . . . .

$15 per person for 3 or more students.
Group lessons are 45 minutes long. Great for families or a few friends that want to learn together!

Ryan was instrumental in developing my son’s excitement and passion for drumming. He balances the rudimentary skills with creativity and fun. This allowed my son to experience different hand drums, bells (xylophone) and the drum set at a young age as well as develop sound skills and continue to excel as a drummer. We were sad to see him move, but are excited he is continuing to share his gifts and passion with others!

"As a critical part of our worship team, Ryan was an incredibly versatile drummer that was able to easily integrate inventive percussion into any musical arrangement. The group drum classes he provided for our church were fantastic, and his ability to customize instruction to each person was, frankly, amazing. I highly recommend Ryan, not just as a drummer, but as a patient, inspiring teacher."

“Ryan was my very first drum teacher when I had just started drumming. Each week we worked on the basics for 45 min and I improved a lot over my 2-3 years being taught by him. He is very talented and works very well with any skill set you have, whether learning the basics or perhaps the more difficult things. I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn drums and have a good time doing it!”

Ryan has participated in camp, youth gathering, and special events with me as our drummer. From Christian Renaissance drum circles to Djembe to Christian band drummer, Ryan always was personable and professional. He relates to young and old with patience to equip them to learn.”
